The name says it all; it sure is cute! The AuCuTee fits in the palm of your hand and is the perfect size for travel, which I love because when I travel with my family, I always bring the essentials to re-create the optimal sleep environment we’ve created at home. These include a white noise machine. Oftentimes I have brought an old cell phone and used a white noise app. The AuCuTee is no more cumbersome than an old phone and certainly works better. I was pleasantly surprised by the volume range, given its compact size. Another bonus is that it can be plugged into the wall using a USB connection, but it can also hold a charge for quite a long time.
One of my daughters is just eight weeks old and so I’ve also been testing it out with her. She absolutely hates the car and wails pretty much every time we go anywhere! The AuCuTee has helped calm her down on more than one occasion. It has a convenient little hook so I can attach it to the car seat or stroller and it’s so small that I can throw it in my diaper bag very easily. It also has several different noise options. Now, from a sleep standpoint I recommend pure white noise as any other variation in sound can disrupt sleep, but I do love the “shushing” feature fetal heart sounds for helping to calm my infant daughter.
My only complaint is that the AuCuTee shuts off after 30 minutes. It is however voice activated so if your child were to cry for instance it would turn back on but that is not ideal. It does seem to stay on during the day if there is enough background noise but I would not use this for overnight sleep for that reason. In order to create the optimal sleep enviornment we really want white noise to continue throughout the night. At home we use White noise throughout the night because inevitably there are household noises and different schedules and it allows everyone to get the uninterrupted sleep they need. Based on that, I opt for something with a longer running time for your everyday sleep aid. But, for the $25 price tag I was impressed by the quality and think it’s well worth it for the occasional nap on the go or traveling. I would give this cute little sound machine a 3.5 out of 5 and recommend it for families on the go!
